Overview
eduroam provides and easy to use Wi-Fi access in thousands of locations in more than a hundred countries around the globe.
eduroam allows users from participating institutions to gain secure wireless network access at other participating institutions across New Zealand and around the globe using the standard username and password credentials they use at their home institution for wireless network access.
Participating organisations can either be an Identity Provider (IdP) or a Service Provider (SP). The role of the IdP is to act as the credential provider for registered staff and students of that organisation. The role of the SP is to supply internet access to the visitors via eduroam and control over the authorisation of the services.
eduroam is available at more than 25,000 locations worldwide. In New Zealand, we have over 400 eduroam enabled sites, including universities, research institutes, government agencies, hospitals, and cultural organisations.
